I appreciated this video but would have enjoyed hearing more of President Obama's talk with the children of our country, I haven't heard it in it's entirety.
In watching the video I was touched by the "passion" this young woman had in becoming a film producer. She had many difficult family and home issues. It would take a very strong individual to overcome and achieve her goal in this situation. As an adult this would be difficult, but with this young woman's courage and drive, I truly believe she will achieve her goal. As with any goal, it takes ambition and hard work to make your "dream" reality.
I feel that as educators we will, more than likely, be teaching children with similar and possibly worse problems. We must always keep in mind our student's and their individual situations. We need to be able to help them realize their goals, and give them the means to achieve them.
We have the opportunity to help change these children's futures in a positive way. I hope we are ready for that challenge. It's right in front of us.
